Reworked Software Recalls
What are reworked recalls?
Reworked recalls are software defects that required multiple attempts to fix properly. This can happen when an initial recall's remedy proves ineffective, incomplete, or introduces new issues. These recalls are tracked through parent/child relationships and generation numbers, helping identify quality patterns and manufacturer responsiveness.
Understanding Generation Numbers: A "Generation 1" recall is the original fix attempt. A "Generation 2" means the first fix didn't work and manufacturers had to try again. "Generation 3" means they needed a third attempt, and so on. The generation number shows the full chain of fixes going back to the original issue—revealing how many times manufacturers struggled to get it right and how complex the software dependency chains can be.
